No more house hunting

Last week was a busy one, playing catch up at work and looking for place to live. Unfortunately we were not able to find a place to buy, we did put offers on two homes but could not come to an agreement with either. That left us with looking for a place to rent which we were also checking on at the same time. As you can images the boys, roscoe and cooper, were somewhat neglected as we were gone most days after work.

We think we have a handle on where we’re going to move and even though it is back to renting it gives us the opportunity to cut down on stuff we’ve accumulated over the years and think seriously about building. As they say things happen for a reason so maybe this is a sign. It’s been a weekend of packing, hauling stuff to storage and purging those things you know you don’t need but just never took the time to get rid of. It’s nice to have a reclamation/recycling center 5 minutes away they will take just about anything, I’ll miss that.

The new pad

Update: My how things change… Since this post we decided not to rent and made an offer on the previous house we initially could not meet a closing date. Kay reminded me of the cost to rent for a year vs one month in “limbo”. My bad for not looking at it that way cause within that context their should be no way we would want to rent… so we’re not. The offer was accepted and the closing is the end of May. So now we have about a month where we won’t have an actual address and staying in a hotel. Dogs will spend time at the kenel and with friends so the only thing left now is to close on our house.

p.s. the image to the left is the new place but the trees have grown a little since it was taken.

Hawaii – day 9.. the end

The last day

Thursday we leave this afternoon at 4:45 and another beautiful day. I think I slept the latest, finally getting aclimated to the time change. A few hours on the beach and then some shoping before heading to the airport. The flight home will be shorter, 6 and a half hours versus 8 plus, at least to Dallas. Home before lunch and will pick up the dogs, as I’m sure they think they’ve been in jail for the last week. The kenel is nice but nothing like home….. and speaking of a home we’ll be looking for a new one right away.

Hawaii – day 8

Luau

Wednesday was another day at the beach with a Luau in the evening at sunset. A great expierence and one anyone should try, the fire dance would have to be my highlight. With the vacation winding down and our last full day in Maui no need to go overboard and try and cram any more sight seeing in. Although I did think about surf lessons, if only for a moment.

Hawaii – day 7

Sunset at the Renaissance

Tuesday was moving day and the rest of the family headed off to the airport. The Kahana Sunset was great and I’d recommend it to anyone, it might be on the side of the island that get weather more often than the south side but it does have some great amenities. Hopefully mom had a better trip home than coming over, sitting for periods of time with a bad back can bring on migraines so we hoped for the best. We’re off to the south side now staying at The Renaissance for the last two nights.

With the weather clearing up in the evenings and a different angle for the sunset we got some great pics, best of the trip.

Hawaii – day 6

Monday was the last full day before the rest of the family left. Kay was going to do a helicopter tour but we were not able to call on Sunday as the Road to Hana, did not have cell service (Sprint). A few calls in the morning turned up no openings and it was to be expected it was the first day since we had been there the sun was out with few clouds in the sky at sunrise. So it was off to Kanappali beach as the rest of the family was there the day before we arrived and wanted to go back.

Sleeping in the sun

Even though some of us were still tired from all the relaxing…. The parents went shopping as we headed out to find a spot and my sisters family followed shortly after. When the parents showed up with a volley ball my nephew was looking for a game. Needless to say after five minutes it was on to something else but that caught the interest of another vacationer and we continued… two on two for about 20 minutes. This would not be worth mentioning, other than to say we played a little sand volley ball, but what followed is. You see the sun is bright and you need “sun block” on most places that are exposed, one place that sometimes is overlooked is the tops of your feet. So moral to the story today is if you’r going to be out in HI at mid-day and not in the shade or the water… use a little protection on the ski’s.
