Weekend yardwork

With this weekend being a long one it was a good opportunity to get back to some yard work. Kay reminded me today it has been a year since we started working on the shrubs in the front yard. How true if we look back to this post and these pics. But their was seven shrubs all of them about six feet tall. Not sure how much dirt the boxes they where in held but I gave up on moving it to other parts of the yard with the wheel barrel yesterday. I’ll leave it for who comes in to fill the holes in with concrete.

With the shrubs out of the way moved on to the area next to the drive that has a big bush and a tree that had a number of plants around it. It was also framed by landscaping timbers which we took out some time ago. Started to use the rest of the wall blocks to frame it and stopped after half way. Kay needed to add some hostas and I’ll need more blocks anyway. By 1:00pm it was pretty warm so I called it a day. We may finish up tomorrow but we’re heading to the Renaissance Festival with friends so if not it will be there next weekend.

Here is a small slide show with three five pics of the work.

Update – 5/28: Finshed up the accent blocks around the tree in the front this evening before going to hockey. Now we can work on planting some flowers in front of the blocks.
