Big Head Todd at 3rd and Lindsley

Last night we had a chance to see a great show at 3rd and Lindsley. It’s a bar and grill on 3rd Avenue in downtown Nashville, TN and a great venue for seeing live music. It had been a few years since we’d been there and when we heard on Lightning100 that Big Head Todd and the Monsters were going to be there we couldn’t pass it up.

Lightning100 broadcasts from there every Sunday night and if you get there early you can find a table, have dinner and see a great show. Just so you know last night’s show started at 8:00pm, we got there at 6:25 but no tables were available. We managed to find some good seats so make sure you get there early if you want a table. The last time we saw Big Head Todd was at the The Ryman Auditorium when they were promoting the Rocksteady album. Their next album, Black Beehive, will be out in a week.

Ronnie Baker Brooks was the opening act an excellent Jazz guitarist. I hadn’t heard of him before but would definitely see him again. It was pretty cool when the show started BHT&M come out with Ronnie rather than letting him open by himself. A 2 1/2 hour set with a mixture of BHT&M, Ronnie doing a few songs and jumping in on some with BHT&M. If you ever get a chance to see them don’t miss it, you won’t be disappointed.

Purity’s Moosic City 5K/10K Run

This weekend was the Purity Moosic City 5k/10k Run at Metro Center in Nashville, TN. I haven’t ran much since the Predators 5K a few weeks ago and didn’t know what to think about signing up for the 10K. If there was a benefit to having 3 hockey games last week it was decent training. The first mile wasn’t good but it got better after that. I finished at just over an hour, 1:04 I think. I can’t remember the last time I went for a solid hour without stopping at anything let along running. Hockey is a little different even though games will go an hour we’re only on the ice for a minute at a time.

Kay has run this a number of times but it was my first. Course was flat and the weather was good, not to hot and not to cold with a breeze. The best part was the ice cream sandwiches after the finish, excellent!!

Hoping I can give it a go next year.

Nashville Predators 5K

Preds 5K 2012

Saturday (2/4) was the Predators 5K here in Nashville. Kay has run it a few times but this year was my first, my first time for this race and my first 5K too. Weather was overcast and a little wet but otherwise a good morning for a 30 minute run with a couple thousand hockey fans. The course started at the Bridgestone Arena looped through the Gulch, up to Music Row and then back down to the Arena for the finish. Hilly but at least the last mile was downhill.

Running has never been my thing but it did feel good to get out there. There are more races coming up and with friends running marathons not sure I can continue to sit on the sidelines. But marathons are a long way away!!!….. I’ll stick with 5K’s.

Thank you Dell

Yesterday Dell hosted a recycling event on their Nashville Campus.

I took a bunch of old items I’d been saving for the right opportunity.

I’m not sure if I’ll use the oak tree sapling they gave me, we already have more trees than we can handle. But I think I can find a friend that will take it.

They also had products available to demo in a small covered area. Would have been nice to see Linux on something other Vista but that’s ok. In addition to the sapling they provided a couple online coupons, now could come in handy.

Thanks Dell !!!
